Alumni Gathering of Chemistry Education Department

The alumni gathering of the Chemistry Education Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University (YSU), was held on Saturday, October 1, 2022. This event aimed to foster camaraderie between the university and its alumni. It is hoped that this event will foster positive habits for mutual support and collaboration for the advancement of the alma mater.
The alumni gathering, held at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY, was themed "Knitting Memories, Building Chemistry for Alumni Synergy." The gathering was attended by alumni of the Chemistry Education Department of the Teachers' Training College (IKIP), alumni of the Chemistry Education Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UNY, lecturers, staff, and other senior guests. Based on data collected, alumni attending the gathering ranged from the 1960s to the 2018 class.
The gathering began with a fun campus walk to reminisce about the alumni's experiences and memories of their education at IKIP Yogyakarta, which has now been renamed Yogyakarta State University (UNY). The fun walk began from the FMIPA West Yard - Lab - Digilib - Library - Rectorate - Postgraduate - Education Museum - FMIPA IDB (via Pancasila Field - FMIPA South Yard), followed by morning tea and breakfast. The event then continued inside the second floor of the FMIPA building for the opening ceremony and welcoming remarks to the alumni gathering participants. The event was opened by Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi, M.Sc., the committee chair, and remarks were given by the Head of Department, the Chair of IKAKA (Academic Student Association), and the Dean of FMIPA UNY.
The event also included a chat with alumni, singing together, lunch, games, and the distribution of door prizes. This alumni gathering is expected to provide alumni with a firsthand glimpse of the development of their beloved campus after several years of completing their studies. Furthermore, alumni can share stories and experiences from their studies to becoming successful individuals.
