Research Results Presentation Symposium

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Yogyakarta State University (FMIPA), held a scientific symposium entitled "STEM POWER: Enabling Progression of Women Researchers" on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. This event was part of the dissemination of collaborative research results between Prof. Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi, M.Sc., from UNY and Prof. Dr. Alexandra Kendall from London South Bank University (LSBU), UK, funded by the British Council UK. The symposium took place in Meeting Room 3 of the Faculty and was attended by 45 lecturers from various universities, including UNY, the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University (UST), and Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

The Vice Dean for Research, Cooperation, Information Systems, and Business of the Faculty, Yogyakarta State University (FMIPA), Prof. Dr. Tien Aminatun, M.Sc., and the Secretary of the Research and Community Service Agency (DRPM), Dr. Suprapto, Ph.D., also delivered remarks. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Tien Aminatun emphasized that this symposium represents a concrete step in strengthening academic collaboration, particularly in the STEM fields, and opening up broader opportunities for female researchers to develop. "Through this collaboration, we are not only building a broader scientific network but also promoting inclusivity and equality in research," she said. Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Suprapto, Ph.D., also highlighted the importance of synergy between researchers in improving research quality. "We hope this activity can be a productive forum for academics to share insights, develop more innovative research, and create a real impact on society," he said.

n addition to the presentation sessions, the symposium also featured two student representatives who shared their experiences after participating in the Creative Research Method activity, which involved designing research using comics. The two students explained how this creative method helped them understand and communicate their research results in a more innovative and engaging way. Their presentations were enthusiastically received by the audience, demonstrating how a visual approach can enhance the appeal and impact of research in academia. This symposium served not only as a platform for presenting research findings but also as a discussion forum for academics from various institutions to exchange insights and strengthen research networks. With the active participation of participants, this event is expected to be the first step in expanding collaboration and supporting the advancement of women in research. As a token of appreciation, each participant received a certificate.
