Curriculum Review: Study Program Efforts to Optimize Graduate Quality
Primary tabs

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Yogyakarta State University (YSU) held a two-day workshop on curriculum evaluation and development for its study programs on February 27-28, 2025. The overall objective of this workshop was to review the 2025 Chemistry Education Study Program curriculum, based on the MBKM (Comprehensive Learning Method) and align it with Permendikbudristek No. 53 of 2023. The two-day curriculum workshop featured two expert speakers: Prof. Dr. Ida Kaniawati, M.Si (UPI) and Prof. Dr. Insih Wilujeng, M.Pd. (UNY). The first day featured presentations from the speakers, and the second day focused on follow-up actions regarding the curriculum evaluation of each study program.
Overall, feedback was provided regarding the appropriateness of the scientific vision, but there was a need to address overlapping course descriptions. As a next step, the results of this evaluation will serve as the basis for curriculum improvements, particularly to avoid overlapping material between courses. These improvements aim to ensure each course has clear objectives and can more effectively support student competencies. With these improvements, it is hoped that the Chemistry Education Study Program curriculum will become more relevant to scientific developments and applicable education policies, and will prepare graduates who are ready to face the challenges of the workplace.
