On March 5, 2024, the Department of Chemistry Education, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, hosted a visit from international colleagues as part of a research collaboration through the Digi-Doc Project. Prof. Dr. Antuni Wiyarsi, M.Sc., Head of the Chemistry Education Study Program at UNY, welcomed nine guests from Birmingham City University (BCU), London South Bank University (LSBU), Northeast Normal University, China, Vietnam National University (VNU), Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU), Vietnam, and HCMC University of Education, Vietnam. The Digi-Doc Project discussion in Indonesia lasted three days until Thursday, March 7, 2024.
The Digital Doctor Training Hub (Digi-Doc) Project is a non-degree partnership program between the UK, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia that aims to prepare and train academics in the field of education to strengthen their research and scientific publication capabilities at the international level. According to Dr. According to Jane O'Connor, Deputy Director of the Center for the Study of Research and Practice in Education (CSPACE) at BCU, this program facilitates education professionals by providing opportunities for joint research and discussion of research ideas with UK education experts. This online supervision training program is funded by the British Council, with Birmingham City University as the program leader.
The Digi-Doc Project is expected to foster an international community of doctoral students and supervisors who share a shared commitment to applicable and accessible educational research. Building on the EdD program as its foundation, the Digi-Doc program will eventually evolve into a four- to six-year doctoral program in education, carrying the EdD-I degree. The course design in years 1 and 2 utilizes four learning modules, followed by years 3 and 4, which examine 50,000 theses, focusing on emerging educational challenges and solutions that students can immediately implement. EdD-I graduates are expected to be able to respond to educational issues in Vietnam, China, and Indonesia and design solutions that can be implemented collaboratively across partners.
